My name is Mary Coleman, I started going to Meath Fitness in April 2017 when I first moved up to live with my boyfriend, Mark. It became very apparent that we needed to do something together in the evenings that wasn’t watching TV and eating sharing packets of chocolate. After a quick google search and a couple of emails to James we rocked up for our first session.
The first session was a shock to the system, if it hadn’t been for the support of the other members and the craic we wouldn’t have gone back. We missed the second session because we were in bits, but the following week we signed up to a 6-week programme and were hooked… I think winning Member of the Month for May ’17 was the highlight of that Summer – I am super proud of that mug.. Mark’s not allowed to drink out of it!
Joining MF was a serious turning point for me… having done very little exercise in the previous decade and living by the mantra “Never run after a bus or a man.. there’s always another one around the corner”. I soon found myself being talked into doing the odd 5K and really enjoying the mix of beach and field bootcamp / runcamp sessions. The outdoorsy nature of MF makes you feel you are working harder and every so often there is a beached car to distract you from the pain!
With going back to college and changing jobs we were a bit on the lazy side and missed a couple of sessions but MF kept us in the loop and were always delighted to see us come back (we think!). Having gotten engaged, myself and Mark have celebrated some lovely moments with this group of fabulous people! What makes MF special (besides the brilliant, committed trainers; the fantastic group dynamic; camaraderie and sore bodies the morning after) is the sneaky breakfast after a weekend session!! There is always space for a few more 😊 😊

During the sessions this week our instructors will very much focus on:
– Explaining the type of exercises we do & why
– Demonstrating the correct way of doing exercises
– Giving modifications of exercises if required
– Buddying up with other MF members
